Welcome

Hello and a very warm welcome to you!
Thank you for choosing to stay with us. In this section you'll find lots of information that we’ve compiled over the years to help our guests make the most of their stay, from instructions on how to use the facilities, where to park and how to get around.
Wi-Fi
Because the mobile phone signal is generally poor around Cornwall, we use ‘Calling over Wi-fi’ or ‘What’s App’ to make calls. EE customers seem to get some sort of signal! Instructions on how to switch on ‘Calling over Wi-fi' on your mobile can be found here. To connect to the Wi-Fi in your room, Select the Network: BT-XGA2KG and the Password is: gbv6K9f3agTRkM

Smoking & Vaping
Whilst smoking or vaping is not permitted in the house, you can smoke/vape outside, but we’d appreciate it if you would do this on our property by standing outside the window to your bedroom on the gravel - rather than smoking outside our neighbours’ houses. Please dispose of any cigarette butts in the ashtray which you’ll find in the kitchenette by the sink. Please do not smoke in the bedroom through the window. The smoke detectors are particularly sensitive.

Keys
You'll have two keys: one to your room and one to the front door. We’ll use a different entrance to you so we ask that you lock the front door when you enter and leave. To lock the front door, just close the door, lift the handle upwards to 12 o’clock and then turn the key. Instructions for locking the front door are in your room and here.
House rules
-
No parties, events or invited guests.
-
No smoking allowed
-
No pets
-
Quiet hours are between 23:00 to 07:00.
Heating
The room is fitted with underfloor heating. Instructions for altering the temperature are in your room or see here. The heating takes a couple of hours to reach a set temperature, so if it’s turned up high when you go to bed, you’re likely to wake up in the night feeling rather hot! Instructions for changing the temperature of your room are on the table. There's a Dyson fan in the wardrobe which can be used to quickly warm or cool the room.

Lights
There’s no need to turn on any lights for outside. If it's dark, the lights over the garage and porch will come on when they sense any activity and the lamp in the hallway is on a timer.

Check out
Just a reminder that check out is by 10:00. Please leave your keys on the table next to the front door. If you have time, please leave us a review. We really appreciate the feedback we get from our guests as it’s good for us to know if we’re getting things right.

Take Aways
When eating take-aways (particularly curries) we ask that you use the coloured plastic mats stored next to the microwave to cover and protect the white table from stains.

Parking in St Ives
Please see the section‘Getting Around’ for information on getting around the area. You’ll find a map of St Ives. A full list of car parks can be found at stives-parking.co.uk. For ease, our recommendation is to head to the biggest car park in St Ives –the Trenwith Car Park TR26 1DD. Aside from being the biggest, it's the easiest one to reach from here.

Places to Visit
For a list of recommended places to visit and things to do, please see Days Out. A couple of our favourites can be found in this booklet.
Taxis
A list of taxis can be found under ‘Getting Around’.

En suite bathroom
The bathroom has an extractor fan to remove moisture. We ask that you DO NOT turn this off. You may also like to keep the door to the ensuite bathroom open when you go out for the day to increase the ventilation. You can leave the windows open slightly allowing some air flow (whilst still being locked) by closing the window towards you and just before full closure, pull the handle down to line the lock. The window will then be slightly ajar but locked in place.
Please take care when opening the shower door as you’ll notice that if it’s opened too wide it could hit the corner of the sink unit. Floor mats are provided to prevent the floor becoming slippery when wet. Please don’t flush wet wipes or cotton wool buds down the toilet – everything else is OK! If you need an adaptor for a shaver or electric toothbrush, I can supply one.

Kitchenette
The kitchenette is next to your bedroom is for your sole use so please help yourself during your stay. In here you'll find teas, coffees, snacks etc, along with your continental breakfast. The juice, milk, butter, and yoghurt are in the fridge. For breakfast, please help yourself to everything and then leave your used breakfast dishes on the side and I’ll run them through the dishwasher and refresh the kitchenette. Only the washing machine is not for guest use, so please contact me in an emergency, if you’d like to use it.

WARNING: The smoke/heat detector in the hallway is extremely sensitive which is good (!) but it does mean that if the toaster is used on a setting of anything more than 2, the smoke alarms will go off! If this happens, we suggest opening the front door and letting some fresh air in to stop the noise.
The refuse bin in the kitchenette is for general rubbish. If you have any glass, plastic, cardboard, or cans, to recycle please put them in the grey bin with the recycling logo on it. Any food waste can be emptied into the small green caddy on the work surface.

Television and Netflix
Instructions for the TV are in the drawer of the bedside table.
Safety
The house is fitted with smoke and heat detectors on each floor. An ‘emergency’ key to the front door is stored in an envelope in the drawer of the table by the front door. A fire extinguisher and First Aid kit can be found in the kitchenette. There are two security cameras/recording devices which monitor the driveway – one above the garage and the other on the front doorbell.
Emergency telephone numbers are:
Emergency (Police, Fire, or ambulance): 999
Police (non-emergency): 101
NHS (non-emergency): 111
